Agressive Behaviour Can Be The Result Of Racing Games
Racing games can be more responsible for aggressive behavior than shooting games. Driving games result in the activation of more regions in the brain which are connected to emotional processing. This study was conducted by Simon Goodson and Sarah Pearson from the University of Huddersfield. In the study 30 adults were tested who were made to play either racing games or shoot em up’s.
They were measured emotionally in terms of heart beat, brain activity and breathing during the game. After the game, a questionnaire gave insight into their emotional state. Player of the Table Tennis game scored lower for aggression than those of the Shoot em up and Driving games.
In terms of brain activity the driving game resulted in the most increase in processing in the temporal lobe which is connected with emotional processing. Aggression is not connected to only violent content according to the study. Last week in Brighton at a British Psychological Society meet, the study was presented.
