The holidays are almost here and video game consoles are likely to be among the most popular gifts this festive season. So which console should you be gifting. Lets take a peek into the top three.

If you know a gamer, he is probably playing games on an Xbox 360, a Nintendo Wii or a PS3. These are the most popular video game consoles on the market today. Each has something that sets it apart.

Microsofts Xbox 360 has recently become very popular. The reason is the immensely playable Halo 3 - the latest in the Halo series. There are 3 typese of Xbox’s - an arcade model with no hard drive, a Premium unit with 20GB hard drive space and a 120 GB hard drive Elite System. They cost $279, $350 and $450 respectively. You can enjoy online gaming with the Xbox.

Sony PS3 sales have been picking up with a reduction in costs. It does not have too many popular games in it’s library though. Next year there are likely to be some good releases. I suggest a buy next year if you care to, not this holiday season.

The Wii sells faster than Nintendo can make them. You have motion sensing controls to toy with which are the Wii’s USP. It isn’t too expensive either. Next year will see Super Smash Bros Brawl, touted to be a hugely popular game.

So which is our choice? The Wii and Xbox 360 are tied for first place with the PS3 a close (kidding) third.
