Atari 2600 in the Hall of Fame

The Atari brought a whole new world of games to children three decades back. It was instantly accepted by the children of that generation. When it was launched, it retailed for $199 and contained just 9 games. It has been a long and exciting journey for video game consoles since then. Today the graphics and quality of video games is much different from the earliest predecessors.

What has brought the Atari 2600 back into the limelight? The Strong National Museum of Play has inducted the Atari 2600 into the toy “Hall of Fame”, thats what!

Other toys that give the Atari company in there are the Teddy Bear, Barbie, G.I. Joe and other toys that have greatly enriched the lives of children.

The Atari changed the landscape of toys of its era. With games like ‘Combat’ ‘Fropper’ and ‘Pac Man’an entire generation was mesmerized and entertained.

The Atari paved the way for the complicated games of today. In fact the sophisticated games of the Xbox 360, Wii and Playstation 3 are just descendants of the good ol’ Atari.

The Atari has certainly gained a lot of prestige by this induction in the Hall of Fame. It now stands with toys like Crayola Crayons and Alphabet blocks.
