Toyota is developing games to stimulate and train the brains of old drivers. It is developing a car for the purpose of brain training. This is to avoid crashes by elderly drivers. This system is being developed in collaboration with the man who made Nintendo’s Brain Age hand held video games console.

According to this scientist - professor Ryuta Kawashima, the mental exercise in the game lead to better brain activity. These games have become very popular in Japan. Mathematics, reading and other tasks are used to test the age of the brain.

In a car being developed by Kawashima, which is set to be on the road by 2020 there would be brain activity monitoring devices along with monitoring for attentiveness and automatic nerve reflexes.

Signs of slackening would result in alarm sounds and ice cold air conditioning to invigorate the drivers brain.

Due to the rapidly ageing population in Japan, their are more senior drivers than ever. Using a pool of wisdom, a system would be developed to help the elderly become more mentally and physically active.
