Music Video Games have pretty much changed the scape of the music world in a nice way. Bars are being turned into places where amateurs can play guitar and other instruments on video games like Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero. After release in these games, song sales have doubled.

Many well known bands now want to provide music to the game makers directly. Record labels want their share too. Aerosmith earned more through the Guitar Hero: Aerosmith release thanĀ  their last two albums made individually. Guitar Hero is now owned by Activision Blizzard Inc. Rock Band is made by Viacom inc.

Nirvana, RHCP and others have seen a more than doubling of sales after release on the video game circuit. Maybe this new way to reach people might just save the music industry. These games are seriously addictive and will see a boost in sales this holiday season, most likely.

In about three years 22 mn units of Guitar Hero have been sold in the United States. These highly appealing games have often seen more customers than units and now the spinoff in album sales for musicians is considerable as well.
