How To Transfer Your Video To PS3
With the PS3 shipping with the new blu-ray format as its choice of disc on which to store games and films, it has led to a new quality of transmission levels. However, this is not the only feature that the console has to offer – with a little bit of patience and the right software, you can convert your existing videos and DVD’s to run through your PS3.
The first thing you need is the actual software to enable this. There are various companies that offer this specialist software, and a quick search using an online search engine such as Google should give you a few options with regards to price and specific software. This software allows you to convert your existing video into the correct format needed for transferring the file.

Once you have the software, you need to do is connect whatever device you have the video stored on to something that will be compatible with the PS3 itself. Although the console supports a wide range of formats, such as memory sticks, cards, video iPod and many others, there are certain types of encryption files that will not be recognised, so be sure to check this list first. If you have any of the following you should be fine:
* Video iPod
* SD card
* Sony memory stick
* Mini SD card
* USB Flash drive
* CF card
Once you decide what device you wish to use, attach it to wherever you have the video stored. If it’s on your computer, this makes it relatively straightforward. By simply attaching an SD card for instance, you can then create a specific folder and save the videos to that. Then, since the PS3 comes supplied with the ports that support these types of external memory sources, you can plug the card straight into your PS3.
Once this is done, the Auto-Detect feature that is on your console (similar to any that you may have on your home computer as well) will advice you that new hardware is connected. Go to the system’s menu by using your normal controller, and select the Memory Card/Stick option. This will open up the memory device you’ve just attached to the machine, and the folder with the videos on it should be displayed.
Then simply choose whether you wish to view the video, or save it to your PS3 hard drive for watching at a later date. For anyone who has ever saved videos from a disc onto a computer hard drive, this will feel very familiar, but even if you’re new to the concept, it’s a relatively straightforward process to carry out.
