The library has always been a place or silence, serenity and peace. The face of the modern library is changing, however and the energy of video games has a place here too. Modern libraries stock both printed books and video games. The process of archiving and collecting video games has been started in a number of libraries, nationwide.

Surveys show that a growing number of libraries have PC games at their locations to be checked out and many have console games as well. The fact that a place for learning is becoming a home to gaming is interesting. Libraries are offering video games so that they succeed in their role as a community hub. In     addition as times change, services offered must change as well.

Sometimes libraries have events that allow people to play the games in the library. The idea behind all this is to engage people who belong to the same physical community. People from the same physical community all live in the same physical space. This is what makes them very different from web communities.

Even university and research libraries have begun to include games. In fact even the Library of Congress is in the middle of a video game archiving effort. Just like pieces of art, movies and music were included so that they could be checked out, this is the latest effort in popularizing libraries.
